Folkwang Hochschule

The Folkwang Hochschule is “the University of the Arts in the Ruhr Area” and has its head office in Essen as well as branches in Duisburg, Bochum and Dortmund (Orchesterzentrum|NRW). As a central educational institution for music, theatre and dance the Folkwang Hochschule fosters young personalities with the goal to help them develop excellent professional competence, a broad educational view and a high degree in individuality and creativity. Through the network with the cultural life of the Ruhr Area, the students of the Folkwang Hochschule experience culture as an open field for artistic, educational and scientific activity. The Folkwang Hochschule is a place of interdisciplinary artistic and scientific research, theory and practice with more than 314 university lecturers (among them more than 100 professors) and more than 1200 students. The piano faculty is based in Duisburg.
