
Rules and Process of the Competition
In order to participate in the Second International Carl Bechstein Piano Competition (26th February - 08. March 2010) it is necessary to take part in the preliminary auditions which will take place in September/October 2009. You may apply to any of the cities listed below and state your choice in the application form.

The preliminary auditions will be judged by a jury led by the artistic director of the competition professor Boris Bloch.
Applications for the participation in the Second International Carl Bechstein Piano Competition must arrive not later than July the 30th 2009 (postmark). In it you must state the city you have chosen for the preliminary auditions. Please note that you also may apply electronically on our website. If you apply via post, we advice to use AIR MAIL.
You will be notified as to whether or not you have been accepted to take part in the competition no later than by November the 15th 2009.
Enrolment and the first stage of the Second International Carl Bechstein Competition 2010 will take place at the Folkwang Hochschule Essen, Germany. For information of the location please refer to www.folkwang-hochschule.de
The following stages will take place in “Theater der Stadt Duisburg” as well as the new Concert Hall of the Orchesterzentrum Dortmund. The finals will be held in the Philharmonie Essen. See www.philharmonie-essen.de
How to get to the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen Werden
Connection from Düsseldorf Airport
By suburban train S7 (Solingen-Ohligs) to Düsseldorf-Derendorf. Change from the suburban train S6 to Essen-Werden. Journey approx. 45 Minutes. From Essen main station: By suburban train S6 to Essen-Werden. (11 Minutes). From there 10 Minutes by foot.
