Rules

Pianists of all nationalities are admitted to the Competition – provided they have not completed their 40th year (i.e. have not yet turned 41 years).

The applicant must fill out the application form (electronically on this website or by post) as well as transferring the entrance fee by July the 30th 2009 (postmark).

The application fee of 100 Euros (any bank charges to be paid additionally by the applicant) must be transferred to:
HSH Nordbank AG, account number: 1000 105 873, Bank code 210 500 00 IBAN DE 90210 500 00 1000 105 873. For payment please write the name of the applicant as well as the code word: International Carl Bechstein Piano Competition.

The application fee also refers to the preliminary auditions as well and thus cannot be refunded.

The Notification about the results of the preliminary auditions and the admission will be sent to you no later than November 15th 2009.

2. The candidates who have been admitted to the Second International Carl Bechstein Piano Competition must hand in the following documents:
A.) Photocopy of your passport. Should you need to obtain a visa please ask Bechstein for an official invitation.
B.) Copy of the application form
C.) Curriculum vitae with details of their musical education.
D.) A certificate of enrolment at an academy of music or other musical institution or an obtained diploma, if applicable.
E.) Two recent photos, free of charge for publishing. Sizes a) 1, 23’’ x 1, 65’’ and b) 5, 82’’ x 4,134”. If you send them in as data, please make sure the files qualify for printing in high quality.
F.) List of any prizes from international competitions, if available.
Participants will be able to use practice rooms of the Folkwang Hochschule. Sufficient rehearsal time will also be provided.
Notification about admission or otherwise will reach the applicants no later then November 15th 2009.
